Since 2022 Southwest Biochar Products has been the leader in biochar production in the southwest. In the fall of 2024, we scaled our equipment from a single reactor to a 5-reactor system with a capacity to produce over 12,000 yards per year. As the demand for biochar in the southwest grows, so will our ability to meet that demand.

Our feedstock is 100% sourced from National Forest thinning projects. Thinning projects which involve removing trees to improve forest health and reduce the risk of wildfires, often generate a significant amount of biomass, such as branches, twigs, and needles. The biomass is often burned to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires. We are creating innovative ways to convert this biomass into valuable products to reduce water and nutrient consumption, build soil health and sequester carbon dioxide.
